Clinical scientist

I am a specialist Biomedical scientist (Clinical Scientist) working in the blood sciences department of Frimley Park Hospital, United Kingdom. I started working as a volunteer in 2015, then a Biomedical laboratory assistant after 6 months. After that in 2017, I became a HCPC (Health Care Profession Council) registered Biomedical scientist then in 2019 I became Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Haematology and Blood transfusion. My academic background comprises of Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biomedical Science specialising in haematology and blood transfusion from Kingston University in London.

I have taken the opportunity to further my studies by attending a range of CPD courses and training events throughout my professional career. As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, I believe that my previous experience and a strong background in haematology and blood science would enable me to contribute successfully to this post. It will provide me with the lifelong personal and intellectual challenges that I am seeking.

For the last five years, I have been working for one of the busiest blood sciences in Surrey, London. I have written Standard Operational Procedures for haematology sendaway department and was instrumental in the quality work leading up to UKAS transition at the end of 2017. As a result, I do understand the business aspects of sample testing and construct SLAs (service level agreement) with external laboratories. This also highlights my organisational and communication skills. I have also trained on performing analyser validation, and this involved a broad range of statistical analysis and correlation studies.

As a member of the quality team, I routinely perform the audits and run NEQAS and other external quality schemes. As a result, I am confident in working to deadlines, maintaining records and handling administrative duties.

I always endeavour to maintain an ongoing professional portfolio and undertake courses and other activities to satisfy HCPC (Health and Care Professions council) continuing professional development requirements.

I also hope for the chance to develop professionally and academically and to be able to amass work experience.
