Provide positive leadership on HSSE issues for the members of the work team for which they are responsible.
• Promote a positive attitude in the workforce and encourage behaviours that protect both people and the environment.
• Organize work to be carried out in accordance with relevant HSSE risk assessments/method statements/ work instructions/procedures.
• Monitor that personnel under their control comply with their individual responsibilities in HSSE matters.
• Give personnel under their control, clear instructions about the required methods of work.
• Ensure that all relevant personnel are involved in HSSE risk assessments prior to any work activity commencing and where appropriate, that method statements are available, understood and that any identified control measures are implemented.
• Where appropriate assess and implement any additional HSSE controls required to address the needs of new employees, young persons, non-native spea king workers etc.
• Monitor that risk assessments/method statements accurately reflect the HSSE hazards present and ensure that any required changes are agreed and implemented in accordance with the arrangements for control of changes to planned methods of work.
• Ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for two-way communication and, where appropriate, deliver tool box talks to the work teams.
• Identify any HSSE training requirements of personnel under their control and advise appropriate management accordingly.
• See that accidents and incidents are reported immediately to the relevant manager.
• Ensure that personal protective clothing and equipment is used, where identified as required, and is properly maintained and stored.
• Ensure that the plant and equipment supplied is appropriate for the work and has any necessary certification. Ensure that plant and equipment is immediately put out of use if unsafe or presents a potential threat to the environment.
• Ensure that only authorized persons operate plant and equipment.
• See that unattended plant, materials and premises are left in a condition that does not present a risk to persons or the environment.
• Ensure that the disciplinary process for breaches of HSSE procedures and rules is applied where necessary.

Responsible for the monitoring of the contractor’s work practices and procedures both on the construction site as well as the site offices, stores, labor camps, etc.
• Ensuring compulsory Daily STARRT Talk and Tool box talk for all the employees by concern job supervisor and keeping record of attendees.
• Implementation of HSE policy, Plan and Procedures.
• Communicating the Safety, Environment programs to employees on Safety rules and procedures.
• Conducting and Participation in Emergency Mock Drills.
• Identifying and assessment of potential hazards by adopting Risk assessment techniques and establishing control measures Investigation of Accidents, Near miss, First aid, or occupational diseases to determine causes to take preventive measures.
• Coordinating with Contractor / Client Safety Engineers for Updating the Incident/Accident Statistics.
• Ensuring strict implementation of Permit to Work system on site. Checking the work permit and compliance of permit instructions.
• Presence of Fire Watch and Confined space attendant with Multi gas monitor during the job.
• Checking the Fire Extinguishers and ensuring proper Fire Extinguishers are provided in the work site especially for hot works.
• Establishing and Checking the Safe Handling and Storage of Hazardous materials like Flammable/Corrosive Liquids, Chemicals and Gas Cylinders etc. as per MSDS.
• Maintaining Documents & Records of HSE department in the site office.

Carry out daily inspection on work site and ensure that condition stipulating in permit is being followed.
• Ensure the adherence to all safety rules, regulation at Work Site.
• Find out Unsafe acts and Unsafe Conditions at site.
• Ensure that all work has valid work permit prior to start the work.
• Conduct daily tool box talk before commencement of work.
• Closely Follow Critical activities like rigging, hot work and working at height.
• Suggest and advice on different safety issues on site
• Inspect Construction Equipment’s.
• Inspect scaffolding and work on scaffolding.
• Inspect rigging on site.
• Inspect Hand and Power tools.
• Control, Issuance and maintenance of PPE’S.
• Ensure correct and relevant PPE’s are in use on site.
• Motivate personnel to report Incident/ Near Miss / Unsafe Acts and Conditions.
• Prepare and update HSE documents and Check list.
• Review and keep record of HSE related certificates.
• Participate in HSE Meetings and give feedback for site safety.
• Participate in Investigation of Accidents/Near miss.
• Participate in Internal and external Audits.
• Update all HSE statistics and data in Management Information System.

• Ensuring Color coding system for lifting tools and hand tools.
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses. Maintaining good housekeeping through the work area.
• Training workers for evacuation drill during emergencies.
• Conducting Emergency evacuation Drill.
• Conducting awareness of employees Defensive Driving training program.
